Business Development Representative

The Business Development Representative (BDR) will manage and mine an assigned territory of target accounts in software, technology and integration services to drive the early stage of the sales cycle by booking qualified appointments for the Chief Revenue Officer.  


The Role

The Business Development Representative (BDR) will manage and mine an assigned territory of target accounts in software, technology and integration services to drive the early stage of the sales cycle by booking qualified appointments for the Chief Revenue Officer.  

Success will be earned by farming existing leads, conducting high volume prospecting, and building and developing strong vendor relationships with key decision makers and influencers  (CMOs and/or key executives responsible for field marketing, events, webinars, product marketing, demand generation, content marketing, or market research insights),  who can benefit from WIS’s integrated marketing packages as they implement their respective go-to-market programs and look to drive new high quality sales leads.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Builds sales pipeline by managing and mining an assigned territory of 150+ companies by identifying and qualifying prospects, successfully booking appointments and providing support in closing sales for the Chief Revenue Officer.
  • Documents all sales activity in CRM system (Salesforce) to maintain an accurate lead database and performs monthly and quarterly forecasting tasks.
  • Builds a strong rapport and credibility with all customers to establish trust which will lead to long-term relationships and additional sales opportunities.  This includes timely follow-up with customers as well as maintaining knowledge of customer’s business and future needs.
  • Meets or exceeds all sales quotas related to daily prospecting volume and qualified appointments scheduled.
  • May work collaboratively with the marketing team and other sales team members to create lead generation campaigns to drive lead activity and further cultivate sales pipeline.   
  • Continues to develop self by maintaining a high level of current industry and company service knowledge.
  • May attend industry events and/or participate in sales presentations with Chief Revenue Officer and/or Sales Directors.
  • May perform additional duties and/or sales support activities as requested.
  • Researches prospect companies to learn and understand their business and the potential opportunity for WIS.
  • Conducts high volume daily prospecting (cold calling, email, social media outreach, etc.) to identify decision makers and qualify them for sales opportunities.  
  • Delivers a comprehensive sales pitch to decision makers that articulates WIS’s value proposition based on their needs and results in sales interest. 
  • Maintains the ability to respond to prospect objections.
  • Moves the decision makers through the sales cycle by coordinating and scheduling a sales appointment with the Chief Revenue Officer.
  • Documents all sales activity in CRM system (Salesforce) to maintain an accurate lead database and performs monthly and quarterly forecasting tasks.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in business, marketing or related discipline along with 1-3 of related BDR experience that may include telemarketing, cold calling, lead generation and/or appointment setting.  
  • Consideration will also be given to candidates who have demonstrated a strong academic track record in college and who participate in extracurricular activities that demonstrate a high aptitude for sales success.
  • General knowledge of integrated marketing programs related to event sponsorship, research report sponsorship, website advertising, webinar sponsorship is a huge plus.  
  • Consistent track record of high activity, personal drive and goal achievement. 
  • Proven experience in building rapport with customers and quickly establishing trusting relationships. 
  • General knowledge of office technology systems including CRM (e.g. Salesforce) preferred. Knowledge of content or event management systems are a bonus

Research Analyst

The Research Analyst and a member of the WIS research team and will work directly with a Market Leader in a dedicated enterprise technology research team. The research team leads all quantitative and qualitative member research, technology vendor analysis, survey fielding, data analysis, and results publishing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in enterprise technology research with strong experience in survey construction, quantitative analysis, qualitative questioning and data analysis.
  • Conduct research across key clients and SAPinsider members to understand their priorities, trends, KPI’s and pain points with compelling written case studies.
  • Publish quarterly research reports and derivative research briefs that create an annual publishing agenda, quarterly results webinars and affiliated derivative publishing on key topics that are relevant to the SAPinsider members, SAP and its partners.
  • Publish weekly SAPinsider newsletter and build a rapidly growing dedicated opt-in community readership.

Sales Director

The Sales Director is a proven quota driven senior leader. The Sales Director reports directly to the Chief Revenue Officer. This Sales Director is an individual contributor that leads all new logo selling, renewal sales and expansion selling across a dedicated named account territory of software, technology and integration companies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish WIS’s market facing value proposition positioning while managing a 125-150 named account territory of existing clients and targeted prospects within a dedicated area of technology focus. The Sales Director is a proven and versatile new logo acquisition and client growth Type A sales leader. The Sales Director leads an inside/out model that combines high activity-based selling with engaging interpersonal consultative skills. The WIS sales model combines research lead consultation and technology advisory with keen awareness of the GTM challenges that face technology providers. The Sales Director is the leader of the team selling process within their territory orchestrating the steps to assure sales success.

WIS owns and operates the 300,000-member strong SAPinsider end user community that actively makes buying decisions on software and technology solutions to improve their overall business performance and agility. This creates a dynamic sales environment for WIS to engage technology prospects as they implement their respective go to market programs and look to drive new high-quality sales leads.

  • Engage the technology CMO’s team at named accounts including key executives within field marketing, event marketing, webinar marketing, product marketing, demand generation, content marketing and market research insights.
  • Manage a 125-150 named account territory of technology vendors comprised of active client accounts, dormant client accounts and new logo prospects.
  • Position integrated marketing packages with an average deal size of $25K to $100K.

The Research Director is a hands-on research professional and a member of the SAPinsider Research Leadership Team. The Research Director leads and delivers all fact-based quantitative and qualitative member research in their respective area of coverage.   • Achieve monthly/quarterly/annual sales and revenue budgets for a dedicated research coverage area in partnership with a dedicated sales team.
  • Conduct quarterly fact-based research programs with published reports and webinars on the findings while supporting the sales team in assuring SAP partner sponsorship of the research programs.
  • Conduct monthly Q&A SAP Experts webinars with the SAPinsider member community on key issues related to using, selecting and implementing SAP and SAP partner solutions by building a network of contributing experts to deliver topical sessions.

  • Work with a dedicated Technical Editor and the WIS publisher to publish quarterly articles and case studies in the Quarterly SAPinsider Magazine with a controlled circulation of 50,000 technology and business professionals.
  • Conduct semi-annual research briefings with SAP and SAP partners to share research findings, SAPinsider member requirements and issues, establish deep understanding of the SAP and SAP Partner software and technology roadmap and demonstrate how SAPinsider research driven omni-channel marketing services can support their respective go to market goals.
  • Conduct monthly check in calls with a dedicated network of SAPinsider members to establish a deep understanding of their goals and issues while also engaging them to participate in events, webinars, case studies and Q&A sessions to deliver relevant hands-on expertise to the global membership.
  • Establish a strong global network of SAPinsider Experts with direct experience in SAP solutions, SAP partner software, technology, automation and systems integration to participate in events, webinars, articles and Q&A sessions to deliver clear insights into the SAP capabilities and roadmap.
