Conference Producer

At WIS, “content is king”.  Our passion and relentless dedication to providing quality content to our customers has led to our reputation for best-in-class conferences and the rave reviews we receive from attendees year after year.  

As a Conference Producer/Conference Manager, your role will be to:

  • Investigate in detail the educational needs of IT professionals in the markets we serve.  To do this, you will conduct telephone interviews, email surveys, and hold face-to-face meetings with our customers.
  • Develop seminar and conference sessions that are jam-packed with specific, valuable deliverables that will help our attendees better leverage the technology they’ve invested in, and plan for the future.
  • Identify the leading experts in the market and recruit those who are qualified to speak at the event. You will vet speakers through a process on written proposals and extensive telephone interviews.
  • Become the internal “subject matter expert” for the events that you produce through extensive customer research, reading related books and periodicals, and following online blogs and communities.
  • Write detailed marketing copy and session abstracts for Web sites and brochures
  • Advise the marketing and sales teams to maximize attendance at events, and the logistics teams to ensure customer satisfaction.

Please note: this is a research-based, content development and speaker recruitment position. It is not a meeting or event planning position.

In this role, no two days will be alike, and you will be called upon to manage projects that require flexibility, strong organizational skills, extreme attention to detail, and a “whatever it takes” perspective. Some travel is required.

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • 3+ years of solid experience in any number of roles requiring conference production, content development, research and analysis, product/project management, editorial, journalism or marketing skills.  High tech experience is a plus.
  • Ability to think conceptually and distill complex information into clear, actionable topics and ideas
  • Instinct for spotting emerging trends and issues and understanding their relevance to our customer
  • Proven success delivering results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Polished and effective communication, writing, and presentation skills

Marketing Coordinator

We seek a highly organized, talented communicator to join our marketing team. The Event Marketer creates and executes on-line, social, email, and print marketing initiatives to support our highly successful conferences and seminars.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the execution and implementation of email, on-line, social, and print marketing initiatives
  • Integrating external social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn , Lanyrd ) into the overall marketing mix
  • Working with Conference Producers to create compelling and accurate marketing content and campaigns
  • Working with management to create tracking solutions for accurate measurement of all marketing campaigns
  • Working with partners, speakers, and media outlets to maximize the exposure of your events

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a direct marketing role, preferably in events or publishing
  • Strong background in social media
  • Ability to engage an online audience to encourage interaction and engagement
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics strategies and techniques, across all platforms
  • Positive, can-do attitude with strong initiative and follow through
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and the flexibility to adapt as the expectations, responsibilities, and work environment evolves
  • Superior attention to detail and quality

Community Manager

Do you have an interest in social media and social media marketing?  Do you have knack for understanding and meeting customer expectations –both internal and external? If you answered yes to these questions, we should meet.

We are looking for a savvy Community Manager who will:

  • Perform day-to-day management of our IBM Community site, including site moderation and pre-moderation of content, updating site content, and identify technical issues
  • Compile, edit, and send out the monthly newsletter to community members
  • Create, manage, and send email communications to community members
  • Compile and send site, email, and webcast statistics reports
  • Serve as support for community members and leaders including:
    • Monitoring site and external inboxes for communications
    • Keeping track of upcoming community-related meetings, moderating virtual meetings, and reaching out to group owners to see how we can help them
    • Train new leaders on the site functionality
    • Create help documentation and videos for leaders and members on the site
  • Recruit and publish content to social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Foster a vibrant community and an environment for active community-driven content
  • Liaise between the community members and IBM in order to carry out the needs and requests of both parties
  • Work with Web Application Project Manager to fix/report bugs and improve usability of the site
  • Write engaging blog posts to share community activities and news

To be our Community Manager you will need to have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, or Marketing
  • 1-2 years of professional work experience
  • A familiarity with social networking sites and publishing to social networking sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter)
  • Editorial and proofreading skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Basic HTML skills (helpful but not necessary)

Front End Developer

As a Front End Developer for a fast-paced global conference, training and publishing company, you will take on the responsibility of developing and maintaining our customer-facing websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You will work closely with an awesome team of fun, dedicated techies to interpret, produce, modify and maintain our websites.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about writing code and creating a great user experience. You spend serious time honing your craft, knowing what’s next, advancing your skills and your career.

As a Front End Developer you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining a variety of conference, seminar, and publication websites
  • Troubleshooting and resolving various technical and creative issues that may develop in a timely and efficient manner
  • Provide quality assurance for existing products
  • Create and maintain product documentation

Skills and experience necessary for this role:

  • Demonstrate proficiency with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • Working knowledge in basic web graphic/ design using Adobe Creative Suite programs
  • Developing cross-browser and cross-platform compatible solutions
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting /problem-solving skills

Additional skills and experience that are nice to have but not required for this role:

  • Any experience in PHP, .NET,  MySQL and MS Access
  • Experience in version control like Git (Github/ Bitbucket)
  • Experience in a web responsive framework like Bootstrap
  • Experience with a content management system like Wordpress
